Sorenson Companies is a leading tree service, concrete, plant health care, and snow removal contractor serving the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. Family-owned and operated, we've worked hard to build a solid reputation within our community and strive to deliver affordable and long-lasting services you can rely on. Our once small tree service company originated in Southern Minnesota in the Mankato area, and advanced very quickly. After 5 years in service, the company expanded operations into the Twin Cities, and the surrounding cities. Great success was established quickly, and we have now been servicing the metro for over 2 years. Throughout the transformation and growth of the company, we started a concrete, plant health care, and snow removal division. These divisions have expanded our clientele and made the company, and our employees more versatile. Our success and dedication for the past 7 years are accredited to our hard-working employees, and their willingness to go the extra mile for our customers.
The teamwork and chemistry of our employees create and build the foundation of this company and each member has many years of experience in their respective fields. Without the help of our amazing, and courteous employees, none of this could have been possible. Not only are employees to be thanked for our growth but also, our customers. You the customer are the main building blocks for the company, and each individual customer means the world to us here at Sorenson Companies. The main focus in all divisions is great customer service and providing excellent work that you will be happy with.
As President & CEO I have spent the last six years building and maintaining what is now known as Sorenson Companies. Before founding Sorenson Companies, I spent a good majority of my high school summers working in my hometown of Madelia, Minnesota next to my brother mowing lawns, building retaining walls, paver patios, and any other landscape projects we could get our hands on. I spent my winters doing residential and commercial snow removal when I wasn't in school or playing sports. After graduating high school, it did not take me long to realize that I had already found my passion in working outdoors and turning customers visions into a reality. Whether it was building a boulder wall, pruning a tree, or mowing a lawn.
At the age of 19 I founded Sorenson Tree Service which became the foundation for something much more diverse, Sorenson Companies! In the early days I was the climber, the bucket guy, the ground guy, the sales guy and the accountant. Picking up businesses was rather easy because I knew mostly everyone in my small hometown of 2500 people. After a couple years of hard work as a one man show I was able to explore the options of hiring full-time help, purchasing more equipment, and expanding our operation to Mankato, Minnesota. After a few years of consistent growth and success in the southern Minnesota market, I ventured to take the company to the next level and opened a second operation based out of the Twin cities. Over the years we continued to hire and expand the company in the Twin Cities area and diversified into many different divisions.
At the age of 25 I have been fortunate enough to have many leaders in multiple industries grab ahold of my vision and run with it. I found a passion and enjoyment in building teams that shared the same vision and goals as I do. I have grown the company on that concept. Over the last couple of years, I have taken a step back from the day-to-day operations to see the bigger picture of the company. I consider myself the driving force and take pride in assisting our sales and marketing team to achieve their goals for our current divisions. I am always seeking to see how we can diversify the company and grow in different ways. I am lucky to have such a great team implementing my many ideas and bringing them to life. We are excited to see what the future holds for us as a company!
Since a young age, I grew up around various types of equipment, and knew my passion was in the service industry. Over the last twenty years, I have worked in the construction industry, and have helped developed many concrete divisions, and also managing snow accounts. Right out of high school, I started working in excavating and quickly grew my range of types of work. After a year of excavating I left, and began working for a major concrete and snow removal company. I started off as a concrete finisher, and snowplow operator. After one year of employment, I was promoted to a foreman of a concrete crew. Being a foreman and a finisher on a crew, I learned to balance running a job site, and completing the job itself. After 6 years of being a foreman, I moved into a supervisor position that was designated to developing multiple crews. I was tasked with the ability to form crews and oversee their production. Being able to work hands on in the field with employees and being able to manage them at the same time helped me become better at communication, and being a leader. All while growing in the concrete division, I also advanced on the snow services side. I went from being just a plow truck operator to managing major snow accounts, and being in charge of employee, and equipment placement. Throughout my years in the industry, I have acquired and still hold a master's certification in concrete and masonry, and I am ACI certified. I love being able to use my long history of experience in the concrete and snow industry to Sorenson Companies, and I look forward to building developing our team.
Born into a military family, I was born on an air force base in North Dakota, and our family after a few short years there, moved to my parent's small hometown of Madelia, MN. Hardly did I know, this small town would change my life forever. I grew up in a military family that absolutely loved sports and these two backgrounds would shape my entire life. From a young age I was taught to work hard every single day and always inspire others to as well. Because without a strong team, and setting high expectations, nothing is accomplishable. I used my knowledge and passion of sports, and the characteristics my parents instilled in me to always push and become the best leader I could be. Throughout my life, I played many different sports, and was a member of many school organizations. I was a starter in four different high school sports, football being my favorite. One of the many organizations I was in growing up was business professionals of America. Between football, and business classes and competitions, I knew these two were going to be a vital part of my future. I used my skillsets to earn scholarships to attend Hamline University in St. Paul, while continuing my football career, a dream come true. I earned two separate business degrees, and two separate business minors while playing football my entire time spent there. Hamline fully prepared me for life after college and helped me gain even more skills to become a harder worker, and better person.
After college, I worked as a valet operations manager at one of the biggest parking companies in the country. That job quickly taught me every single day I must come in with a clear and positive mindset, all while being a respectful manager that saw both sides to every story. After a few years there, I left and started working for Sorenson Tree Service, which was one of the best decisions I have made to date. This company gave me the opportunity to use my backgrounds of the military, sports, and business to reach my full potential, all while at the same time building this company and aiding growth. This company has become very diversified, and numerous new divisions have started since the beginning of my employment. Once again this is attributed the great team we have built, and I absolutely love being a crucial part of decision and team making.
Home to Madelia, MN I was born and raised in a small town and throughout my life there, I met many great people, and got a great education while playing many different sports. After high school, I attended and graduated from Minnesota West Technical in Jackson, MN. After college, my journey in the tree service industry began, and i started working for a line clearance company and became very skilled. While working there, I even got the opportunity to travel overseas and do storm restoration in Puerto Rico. My time there, taught me to become versatile and open to expanding my skill set. After a few years, I started my employment here at Sorenson Tree Service in 2019, and I couldn't happier I started as a climbing specialist, and over the years I have learned from some of the state's best climbers and leaders and without them and their teachings I would have not acquired the skillset I have today. After quickly picking up new tactics in the industry I quickly excelled in tree climbing and removals, while learning new management skills. By harnessing both service specific skills, and leadership and management skills I was given the opportunity to lead the tree service division. I am very grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to bringing my skillset to the table to help this company flourish and grow for the future.
As a native of South St Paul, I grew up getting to know the cities and surroundings very well. I now live in Cottage Grove with my wife and 2 sons Frank, and Jake. My experience in the tree service industry is very extensive, and I have been growing my knowledge and skills since I first started in 2001. I began my career as a grounds man, and over time grew my skill set and learned to climb and cut trees. After many years of learning and advancing my abilities, I became a crew foreman. Not only did I strive to become a respected climber in the industry, I wanted to become a leader and someone others looked up to and could trust. Throughout my years in leading a crew and growing my tree cutting skills, I wanted to expand my knowledge even more and I moved into plant health care as a technician to further my ability to help myself and whichever company I was employed with. After studying and practicing, I gained the knowledge behind different tree species and diseases that may impact or have affected a tree, the insects that infest certain trees, and the treatments used to aide these plants. I became an I.S.A certified arborist in 2013. A huge accomplishment that has helped me understand the tree service and plant health care industry to this day. In 2014, I graduated from Davey Institute of Tree Service Science in Kent, Ohio. Those certifications, and years of schooling have strengthened my ability to becoming the best professional arborist I can be. I hold my pesticide applicators license, and I have been a certified tree care safety professional since 2018. I absolutely love this industry and growing my knowledge and skills to better understanding how unique trees truly are. Getting to work outside, and meeting new people is one aspect of my job I truly enjoy. Sorenson Tree Service has allowed me to fully bloom as a consulting arborist and I love our team and bringing my knowledge and years of experience to the company.
